Tiffany Ng - President

Tiffany Ng

Hey RCSAers! I'm Tiffany, and I'm from Orinda, which is "hella" close to Berkeley (Nor Cal!). I'm a fourth year majoring in Business Admin and minoring in German. I'm super interested in foreign languages and cultures; I studied abroad in northern Germany last semester with EAP and aside from English, I can speak German, Spanish, and some Mandarin and Cantonese. So if you ever need anyone to practice with, let me know!/sag mir Bescheid/déjame saber! I also like to eat (that's me in Switzerland with a nice bubbling pot of fondue, melted cheese), go shopping, and do fun stuff outdoors (although I'm by no means a mountain climber sort). I look forward to meeting and spending time with you all this year at events - RCSA love!

Irena Tan - Co-External VP

Irena Tan

Hello! I'm a third year double majoring in Molecular & Cell Biology and English and I have no idea where I'm going with this. Check with me in a couple of years and maybe I'll have an answer for you. I love excitement, laughing, food, talking to everyone about everything, and being just plain nerdy all the time. I was also an avid reader back in the day when I had time to actually read for fun so you can always start a conversation with me about books. I'm really easily amused and I love making new friends so say hi if you see me around!

Irina Degtiar - Co-External VP

Irina Degtiar

Hello! I'm a third year Molecular and Cellular Biology & Business Administration double major (what a mouthful). When that's not taking over my life, I love to dance--any and every style, but especially jazz and swing. I also love to play badminton, bake, draw, and learn different languages (I know Russian and German, and hope to add on Spanish, French, and Sign Language to that list). If you come up to me and start speaking in German, I'll be ecstatic. And even if you don't know German, come up and say hi anyways--I'd love to get to know you! Seriously.

Emily Rusca - Co-Internal VP

Emily Rusca

HOLLER AT A SCHOLAR! I'm a 4th year Development Studies major (with loving Latin America as my focus) that just spent the last year in Ecuador (missing RCSA a bunch)...In any case, I love people, which is what tends to drive me in whatever I may be doing. I have fun playing IM soccer with our RCSA championship squad, obey rule #19 (respect spontaneous dancing), and sharing great meals and memories with great people. I hail from the East Bay (go A's!) and love Berkeley's tie-dyed amazingness more than I can describe...in my opinion, it's GO BEARS or go home! I love elephants, sharp cheddar, and the color green...and I'm looking forward to all the great memories we'll be making this year in RCSA - let's make up for lost time! I look forward to meeting you (did I mention new people are my favorite anything ever?!)

Kathryn Fong - Co-Internal VP

Kathryn Fong

I can't believe it's already my third year at Cal. A lot of what's made it such a great experience is the diverse group of outstanding people I've met through RCSA, and a lot of what I'm looking forward to this year as Co-Internal VP is meeting and welcoming lots of new and old scholars to the family.

I grew up in Alameda, but I am absolutely enamored by Berkeley (I love running the hills!). I'm also a fan of eating, flying kites, painting, baking, and hiking. I like bats, dinosaurs and spiders. And I LOVE the Bears.

I am a Development Studies major, like my wonderful cohort, Emily, and I'm going for a Linguistics minor as well. I love traveling and foreign languages, and I will be spending the coming spring semester studying abroad in Chile. Though I'm excited, I know I'll miss out on RCSA retreats and picnics and receptions and banquets (the fun goes on and on)... But that goes to show that we have an awesome year coming up, so get ready to join us!

Linda Xu - Chief Operations Officer

Linda Xu

Hello there. My name is Linda Xu and I'm currently a 2nd year here at Cal, planning to double in Business Admin and something completely off the radar. I am from SUNNY SOCAL! I fall in love easily: jazz dance, Tae Kwon Do, golf, boba, oranges, and traveling! I absolutely love to go traveling: Japan's my fav so far. I think RCSA is phenomenal because our scholars come from all different majors, so we get to meet tons of interesting people. I enjoy trying new things, so if there's a fantastic restaurant or concert in town, be sure to let me know!

Simon Wu - Chief Finance Officer

Simon Wu

Hey Guys. My name is Simon and I'm a third year Business Administration / Operations Research & Management Science double major from a small city called Baldwin Park in the L.A. area. Some of my interests include LA Lakers, going to the gym, badminton, basketball and a bit of car stuff. I also watch Naruto and Bleach and TV shows like How I Met Your Mother, Entourage, Simpsons and Family Guy. I love meeting new people, so I hope to see you around!

Stacy Chen - Academic

Stacy Chen

Hi! I am a second year intended Integrative Biology major and English/Art History double minor. I am a native of wonderful SoCal and I absolutely love going to the beach. I also love traveling, going to art museums, and most of all, reading. Though I don't often watch TV, I do make the occasional allowance for good and necessary doses of Family Guy and House. I love to laugh and make new friends, so come on over and introduce yourself! I'm looking forward to a wonderful and fun-filled year with RCSA!

Vincent Yung - Academic

Vincent Yung

Hello! My name is Vincent Yung and this year I'll be your co-coordinator for the Academic Committee. I'm a junior majoring in genetics and plant biology and sociology. I wouldn't say I'm a traditionally interesting person, but I've recently gotten into the habit of baking - baking fantastic cookies and cake/bread things in my fantastically minuscule kitchen. I hope that stands for something. Also, sometimes I enjoy reading, sometimes movies... but now I exist as a coffee shop "regular" convert from a once Main Stacks pedigree, so I spend most of my free time judging tea selections and chai lattes. I like plants, Barrows Hall, and jumping over the creek to get from the GBC to Dwinelle Hall. I'm an advocate of undergraduate research and have been involved with research since before freshman year, so please (please) email me if you're interested in getting your research foot through the door.

Candace Won - Peer Advising

Candace Won

Hello Everyone! I'm Candace and I am the co-coordinator for the Peer Advising committe this year. I'm currently a 2nd year Business and Political Science double major and World Poverty and Practice minor. During my spare time, I love to read history books and travel to various cities around the world. When I'm at Cal, I also love to go cafe hopping during the weekends- visiting and studying at different cafes around campus (I'm also a big coffee addict!).One of my biggest goals in life is to become fluent in French so this year, I am looking forward to taking my first French class (if you ever need someone to practice conversations with - I'm always available!) But other than that, I am really excited for RCSA this year and I'm especially looking forward to attending all the fun events during welcome week!

Nairi Hartooni - Peer Advising

Nairi Hartooni

Hellooo everyyybody! My name is Nairi Hartooni and I am a third year double majoring in Molecular Environmental Biology and Molecular Toxicology. I'm from Glendale, CA and I know LA like the back of my hand (love that city!). Education-wise, I'm interested in plant systematics, phytochemicals, organic chemistry, and toxins. I follow Horace in my philosophy to life: carpe diem quam minimum credula postero. My hobbies include painting, shopping (yes this can be a hobby), going on random adventures, finding really good restaurants, driving really really fast down swirly streets, hiking, and gardening. My favorite thing about Berkeley is you never know the adventures that can unfold on campus on any given day. Berkeley is a place full of opportunity and full of fun and if your having trouble finding either, come talk to me. I look forward to meeting all of you and if you see me on campus, do as our motto says "hollaaa at a scholaaa"!!!!

Chris Torres - Social

Chris Torres

Hola Todos! I'm Christopher Torres, a second year student and your Social Co-coordinator for the 09-10 academic year. I'm from the rodeo town of Lakeside California in East County San Diego. The move from Lakeside to Berkeley was a quantum leap but it was a culture shock that was nonetheless needed. I'm an intended Philosophy and Resource & Conservation Studies double major: a philosophizing nature lover. My ultimate active goal this year and in life is to make everyone feel a part of something, to remind us all that we need each other even though we are bound to sometimes unintentionally hurt each other. So as your Social Co-coordinator I aspire to personally reach out to the new first years and to form a tighter bond of friendship amongst us seasoned veterans. And if that calls for me to be the first to say something awkward or embarrassing to break the ice, I believe that it is a decent price to pay in exchange for everyone's comfort. I owe everything to this organization and I will do all I can do give back to it and all its members. So if you are ever bored and just want to talk about any subject or anything, I am always your humble servant... Go Bears!!!!

Salma Ratanjee - Social

Salma Ratanjee

Hi! My name is Salma and I am really looking forward to being your Social Co-Coordinator this year. I am an intended Business Administration and Media Studies double major and come from Orange County, California, where the sun always shines. As you can imagine, coming to Berkeley was a bit of a change for me. I am still not used to seeing the sun out and having it rain 5 minutes later. However, although I am a SoCal baby, I have grown to love the Bay Area as well. In my free time (when I am not studying), I enjoy running, cooking, making ceramics, exploring new places, and eating frozen yogurt or drinking boba (strawberry milk tea please). Random facts: I LOVE animals (especially dogs) and I have been skydiving. Anyways, I am super excited for this year in RCSA; it's going to be awesome!

Austin Bly - Professional Development

Austin Bly

The name's Bly, Austin Bly. I'm a second year Bioengineering major here at Cal. I love music and sports. I play basketball and am a team manager for the Cal men's basketball team. I sincerely love listening to great music and enjoy playing the violin and piano. I enjoy being around friends and love meeting new people. I love challenges, winning, and greatness. Please come up and introduce yourself if you see me. Go RCSA!

Suraj Bhogal - Professional Development

Suraj Bhogal

Hey RCSA! My name is Suraj and I will be your co-chair for the professional development committee a.k.a. "P.D." I'm a second year Mechanical Engineering and Economics double major from Santa Clarita and although I love the hot, smoggy skies of SoCal, I'm "hella" down with Berkeley too. Besides school, I love pretty much all sports - you can find me playing basketball or soccer most days of the week - and I'm a huge fan of the Lakers and Manchester United so if you want to play or even just kick back and watch a game, just knock on my door. On the weekends when I'm not doing problem sets, I love doing work days with Cal Habitat for Humanity and exploring the great food, music, and culture that Berkeley and the Bay Area has to offer. RCSA is filled with the most interesting and amiable people on campus so I hope to see and meet you all at the exciting events this year!

Shrina Shah - Alumni

Shrina Shah

Hello! My name is Shrina Shah and I am a third year Molecular and Cellular Biology major from Los Altos. I love to talk and laugh with my friends and family. I enjoy Indian dancing and music, and I have been playing the piano for over ten years. I love traveling all around the world with my family and shopping. My favorite TV show is House and my favorite book is The Palace of Illusions. Three things that I absolutely love are Bollywood, Guitar Hero, and all kinds of food. I am looking forward to being a co-coordinator for the Alumni Relations committee and cannot wait to meet all of you!

Stephen Chen - Alumni

Stephen Chen

Hey what's up everyone my name's Stephen Chen and I will be co-coordinator for alumni. I am a second-year and am still undecided about my major. My favorite activities include basketball, golf, exercise, watching movies, and eating. I want to meet more new and interesting people this year so I'm excited to be a part of RCSA!

Britney Kitamata-Wong - Community Service

Britney Kitamata-Wong

Hey fellow RCSAers! My name is Britney and I am a second-year intended Molecular and Cell Biology major. I come from the small industrial town of South San Francisco just an hour south of Berkeley. Although I live in the birthplace of biotechnology (including leading industries like Genentech), I plan to pursue a career in optometry. I am a member of Foresight and Unite for Sight and plan to volunteer abroad at an eye clinic in India next summer. When I'm not cramming for midterms, you can usually find me lounging on Memorial Glade, playing guitar, or sleeping in the library (which is VERY easy to do by the way). I love making new friends so don't be afraid to say hi or wake me up. After my first year at Cal, I love the city of Berkeley, the food, and the friends I've made through RCSA. As one of this year's community service co-coordinators I hope to see many of you participating in our events and giving back to RCSA and Berkeley.

Gopal Lalchandani - Community Service

Gopal Lalchandani

Hi I'm Gopal, and I am starting my second year here at Berkeley as an Undecided major. I was born and lived my whole life in Sacramento until coming here to Berkeley. My interests include sleeping and traveling to new places, but they often don't work well together. I look forward to meeting all of you this year during all of RCSA's community service events.

Sruti Bharat - Faculty

Sruti Bharat

Hey there, I'm Sruti Bharat and I'm a second-year Industrial Engineering and Operations Research major and English minor. I've lived in the suburbs of the East Bay forever (Pleasanton, for anyone from up here). My hobbies are reading, singing/piano, playing IM soccer through RCSA!, trying to be more environmentally conscious, and traveling. AND British humor, if that counts as a hobby. I'm always up for pickup frisbee, going to see a musical or a play or a game, obsessing over Harry Potter, eating out anywhere (latest interest: Ethiopian food), and speaking in a random accent. I can't wait to meet more RCSA folks this year as Faculty Coordinator, so I'm sure that I'll see you around!

Xin Xin Lin - Faculty

Xin Xin Lin

Hi! My name is Xin Xin and I am a second-year intended Molecular & Cell Biology major, as well as RCSA's Faculty Co-Coordinator for this year. I grew up in the Bay Area and am currently living in one of the co-ops near campus. To be brief, I enjoy exploring new places in and around Berkeley, making art, and meeting new people. Hope to get to know everyone at RCSA events this year!

Joey Goodknight - ROHP

Joey Goodknight

Hello Scholars new and old; it's my pleasure to make your acquaintance! I'm a Junior in the Chemistry program here at Berkeley but I also intend to pursue a minor in physics. This is my second year at the helm of ROHP and I'm really excited to do it all over again! When I'm not planning for ROHP, I business manage the a cappella group, Noteworthy and try to take spectra in the Saykally lab. I also enjoy pesto and lame jokes so be sure to throw your recipes and/or puns my way if you see me on campus: GO BEARS!

Michael Ellison - ROHP

Michael Ellison

Hello there. If you're reading this, a) you accidentally clicked on the wrong link somewhere; b) you're trying to stalk someone without using Facebook; or c) you're legitimately interested in the awesomeness that is RCSA. Hopefully you fall into the third category, so congratulations and welcome! And thanks for choosing to read my bio out of the 30-something bios you could have read instead. Hmm... I guess I should put down some bio-like information then. I am a second year physics major from Ventura, CA in SoCal. When I'm not trying to solve the physical mysteries of the universe or obsessively checking my Facebook, I enjoy hiking and backpacking, playing long games of Apples to Apples, taking my bike out for a spin, trying to incorporate "hella" into everyday conversations (you live in NorCal now; deal with it), playing on our outstanding RCSA intramural soccer team, learning new Flight of the Conchords songs on my guitar, and immersing myself in the craziness that is Berzerkeley. See ya around!

Pin Xiang - UC Liaison

Pin Xiang

Hey everyone! I am a third year double majoring in Molecular Cell Biology: Immunology and Economics. I am a Pre-med student hoping to go to medical school and become a doctor in the future. As of now, I am just enjoying college and having a good time while keeping up in school of course. In my spare time, I like to sleep and play tennis. I believe that 8 hours of sleep helps in order to stay up in class and tennis keeps me from stressing and working too much. Berkeley is intense and stressful sometimes but it is all what you make of it. So, relax and enjoy your time here and hope your experience is a good one.

Vincent Sheu - UC Liaison

Vincent Sheu

Hi! My name's Vincent; I'm a second year; intended....not sure yet. Still deciding between Molecular/Cell Biology, Public Health, Economics, Computer Science, and music (minor). Yes, I'm working on that. In my free time, I play piano, badminton, and solve Rubik's Cubes quickly =) I'm one of your UC Liaisons; meaning I work with Regents' Scholars at all the UC's, organizing events and opportunities so that you can network and meet cool people to your heart's content. Let me know if you have any questions; I hope to have a wonderful year with you all!

Stephanie Kern - Historian

Stephanie Kern

Hi all! ¡Hola! Guten Tag! 你好!My name's Stephanie and I'll be your Historian Coordinator this year. I'm a third year Art History major who also loves learning languages. I've studied Spanish, German, Mandarin Chinese, and will take Vietnamese this fall. When I'm not nerding it up in the linguistic realm, I enjoy reading, writing, eating (especially trying new foods), yoga, swimming, embarrassing myself on the dance floor, and late-afternoon iced coffee runs. I originally hail from San Diego, but Berkeley has captivated me completely. I look forward to meeting and working with you in RCSA this year, and if you see me on campus, say hi--in any language!--and I'll be happy to respond in kind.

Erin Lam - Public Relations

Erin Lam

Hi! My name is Erin Lam and I'm a second year here at Cal. I'm a Molecular Environmental (not Cell!) Biology major, doubling in Latin (or possibly Classical Languages, so I can smush some Ancient Greek into there), and more than likely pre-med. I'm a complete Classics freak, and would like to go to Rome in the near future. I'm astoundingly full of semi-useless Classics information, so don't be surprised if I make odd references to obscure Latin texts. I'm also super into music, so if you need something new to listen to, or would like to share your own favorite artists, that would be amazingly awesome. I like to cook (I'll feed you!), read, write, music (yes, I just made that a verb), and talk about classics/religion/ethics (especially environmental/health related)/philosophy/rhetoric. You might see me in the SLC (I'm a writing tutor!) or reading outside VLSB. If you're interested in any of the above, or if you'd just like to chat, come talk to or email me! I look forward to meeting many amazing RCSAers this year!

Amman Desai - Sustainability

Amman Desai

Hey! My name is Amman Desai and I am a second year environmental engineering major and global poverty and practice minor. I'm from Orange County (boo), but I consider Berkeley my true home now. I love playing tennis, cooking, being sarcastic, reading, pretending to be cultured, and being a music and movie snob. I'm also an environmentalist, so I'm really excited to kick off RCSA's first (and hopefully not last) sustainability committee. I look forward to meeting a lot of great people interested in the environment, making new friends, and organizing some amazing events.

Elizabeth Chan - Sustainability

Elizabeth Chan

Vassup! I'm Elizabeth and I'm psyched to be your Sustainability Co-coordinator for this school year! I'm a second-year and currently I label myself as an Environmental Economics and Policy major (with a minor in Chinese). I look forward to learning more about sustainability with ya'll and I hope you feel the same! I'm crazy about "going green," but I'm much more than the carbon neutral girl that meets the eye. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candle light dinners, and my number is... haha just kidding! I have many favorite things in the world: laughter, fashion, thrift-store-shopping, getting great deals, thought-provoking art, Leonardo da Vinci, avocados, bike porn, Chinese, gardening, running on the fire trail, working out, stand-up comedy, the Office, photography, awesome quotes, pun-ny jokes, wind chimes, and much much more! If you enjoy laughing, let's be friends!

James Ide - Technology

James Ide

Hi, I'm James and I take care of the RCSA Web site. I'm a third-year majoring in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, which is a great major if you're interested in engineering and building things. Berkeley's a pretty cool place and there are lots of clubs and opportunities on campus. I like sleeping in (probably due to sleeping late, oh, the habits that college teaches), so I've made sure that all of my classes start after 10AM =) Next year, I hope to try out more of the restaurants that Berkeley has to offer - there are so many of them!

Kate Massey - Corporate Relations

Kate Massey

Hi everyone! I'm a Business Administration major enjoying every moment of my third year at Cal. Coming to Berkeley from my hometown of Newport Beach has been an exciting adventure, and I wouldn't trade my experience here for anything. I love the thrill of competitive horseback riding and could talk about philosophy or music for hours. I also like to travel whenever I get the chance and can't wait to study abroad this spring. Last year, I was the Alumni Relations Coordinator and really enjoyed getting to know lots of awesome people in RCSA. Nashia and I plan to make this year a great one for Corporate Relations, and I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!

Nashia Lalani - Corporate Relations

Nashia Lalani

Hey Scholars! My name is Nashia and I am looking forward to being the Corporate Relations co-coordinator this year. I am a third year majoring in Political Science and thinking about minoring in Global Poverty and Practice. I have been active in RCSA, mostly in Public Relations, for the last two years and am excited to take on a new task! At Cal, besides studying :), I enjoy being a part of the ASUC and Berkeley Model UN , meeting new people, hanging out on Sproul, eating ice cream, and shopping. Feel free to say hi if you see me on campus and I hope to see you all at our events!

Jennifer Chen - Finance/Fundraising

Jennifer Chen

Hi everyone! My name is Jennifer and I'm a second-year intended business and public health major. In my spare time, I love to watch The Office and The Food Network, play the guitar, share stories with friends, and go running on rocky trails (because of the scenery and because I think I'm getting more exercise). I'm originally from sunny San Diego, but I've come to love Berkeley and the Bay Area! RCSA is a fantastic organization, and I look forward to meeting everyone this year. Be on the lookout for some new club merchandise!

Richard Ma - Finance/Fundraising

Richard Ma

Whatsup RCSA. My name is Richard Ma and I am a second year here at Cal, GO BEARS! I am one of the Finance Coordinators, along with Jennifer. I was part of the Professional Development Committee for the 2008-2009 year under Tom Tran and Simon Wu - and of course, we were the best. Just kidding. I grew up in sunny San Diego, CA with all its beautiful beaches and relaxed feel, which is better than LA with its smog and traffic. I have lived in the same house my whole life so coming to Cal was pretty cool, the environment is a lot different but I like it here too. I love watching movies, trying new restaurants, and playing sports so if you ever want to try some new foodies, play badminton, football, or basically anything else, I'll probably be down. I'm expecting this year to be pretty great, so be active and say hi when you get the chance!
