What is RCSA?

The Regents' and Chancellor's Scholarship Association (RCSA) is a student organization officially registered with the Associated Students of the University of California (ASUC). RCSA is composed of recipients of the Regents' and Chancellor's Scholarship offered by the University of California, Berkeley. RCSA links scholars together to foster friendship and the free exchange of ideas and talents among its members. We hope that RCSA can enrich the college experience for its members and help members contribute to the campus and the surrounding community.

What do you do?

One of our main goals is for Scholars to meet each other, have fun and make friends. We believe that the best thing about RCSA is the diversity of Scholars - we are a cross-section of backgrounds, majors and hobbies. In the past, our social events have included monthly dinners, trips to SF, broomball, ice cream socials, comedy clubs, ice-skating, and Great America. We also have a program called CalPals Family (CPF), which is a network of groups, or families, that integrate scholars from different years, majors and levels of involvement in RCSA. While all of the CalPal Families get together for large events such as barbeques and game nights, individual families meet monthly for casual social gatherings.

Another goal is to put on events and provide services to help Scholars get ahead academically and professionally. We offer professional-development workshops, Telebears-advising sessions, test files, faculty lecture series, and alumni externships.

Additionally, one of our most important functions is the RCSA Overnight Host Program, where we host some of the brightest high school seniors from throughout the state and country and give them a taste of all that Cal has to offer. We hope, that by allowing them a glimpse of Cal life, that they will fall in love with the school and the city and come to UC Berkeley - helping keep Cal's tradition of excellence thriving.

How do I join?

To get involved, you must be a recipient of the Regents' and Chancellor's Scholarship. You should look at your financial aid documentation to verify you have received this award. Then, simply attend any of our events. There are currently no formal procedures; anyone who is an RC Scholar is automatically a member of the RCSA.
